Pop-Up Sample Sales
A cult favorite, hidden secret in Culver City, California, Ur Kitten Me was a pop-up sample sale where customers could shop designer handbags, jewelry, beauty products and home decor samples from hundreds of brands. The name is a nod to our prices, up to 90% off retail.
Great Deals Meow!
During our TV flash sale days, we ended up with so much excess product from brands featured on the TV shows we worked with, like the samples used for display purposes on set. It would pile up in our warehouse until we were swimming in handbags, jewelry and beauty products.
We needed an outlet to get rid of this excess product so I carved out a portion of our vintage furniture showroom, filled it with product and opened the doors to our local community.
Because of our deep discounts and fun atmosphere, we developed a cult following through word of mouth, to the point where customers had to RSVP and reserve a time to shop. These customers would be chomping at the bit to see what we had at our next sale to shop the latest inventory, lining up early outside and wrapping around the block.
A real life treasure hunt
Each time we ran a sale, we’d spend the days prior packing our shelves with purses, lay out as much jewelry as would fit on our tables and merchandise it all nicely, while still having that packed in sample sale vibe.
Our customers would spend hours finding the best deals and leaving with armfuls of merchandise for less than a lunch with girlfriends.
Doggies & Discounts
We featured our adorable adoptables from Ready Pet in the store to get them more exposure and so they could find their home, which they did!
10% of sales also went back to Ready Pet to help pay for their care.
The Cat’s Meow
We made every sample sale as fun as possible, with face painting, mimosas, hiring singers to perform, raffles for free product, we had a kid’s corner with toys and dress up clothes so that parents could shop distraction free and we always had an adoptable dog there to get extra exposure.
