Dom’s Destiny
After we rescued this little chunkster from the shelter, he went straight into the hands of a capable vet team for surgery on his injured leg.
As he recuperated from surgery at the vet’s office, he became a staff favorite and everyone fell in love with him.
His elbow injury ended up being worse than we expected, and Dom had to have three surgeries to correct it. He had screws placed as well as a neuter and bladder stones removed.
Once he was feeling a bit better it was time to find him a foster who could manage his special needs while he recovered.
Enter Kim, a real life Miss Dolittle, who owns a pet sitting business and has her own menagerie of personal pets including chickens, turtles and hedgehogs.
Kim provided the perfect safe and loving environment for Dom while he recovered from his surgeries. She also put him on a raw food diet and he began to quickly shed his excess weight.
Dom and his new foster brother, Rocky, hit it off right away and became quick BFFs. Rocky seemed very concerned about Dom’s big cast and was glued to his hip from the moment he arrived. He would even sleep outside of Dom’s recovery pen!
After a couple of months, Dom had dropped three pounds and got his cast off. He was like a whole new dog!
He was finally ready for his Ready Pet photoshoot to help find his forever home. It just so happened the day he came into our studio, we had Scheana from Vanderpump Rules there, shooting for one of our clients. Like everyone else, Scheana fell in love with Dom and gave him tons of attention which, of course, this little ham ate up!
Once Dom was officially on the market for adoption, his foster mom, Kim, decided that she couldn’t possibly give him up and wanted to make this snugglebug hers forever!
Kim and her whole family of animals recently moved from California to Florida. Dom has maintained his svelte beach body and he and Rocky are not only best friends now, but brothers.
Before he moved, I got to see Dom one last time at our Ready Pet reunion party. Here he is dressed up as Snooki (don’t ask).
Dom was our most expensive rescue dog to date but every penny was well worth it to see this boy living his happily ever after. We love you, Dom!
